Independent consulting · BIM, AI, structures

Data first. Concrete later.

Every building is a pile of information before it is a pile of steel. I help contractors, consultancies and owners get that information in order, keep it honest for the life of a project, and put it to work: ISO 19650 information management, openBIM delivery, and small, sharp AI tools built for the untidy reality of construction documents. I trained as a structural engineer, so I know what the model is for.

01 — Services

Nine things I do well.

Grouped by the problem they solve. Every engagement starts with a written scope, a timeline and a price, so you know what you are buying before you buy it.

Information & BIM delivery

A · the foundation
A1

ISO 19650 information management

Standards on paper are easy. Standards on a live project, with six firms and a deadline, are not. I write the plans teams actually follow, set up the common data environment, and run the checks that keep information trustworthy from tender to handover.

You get
  • BIM execution plan and information requirements
  • CDE configuration, naming and status conventions
  • Audit checklist and a trained team
A2

openBIM and IFC quality

IFC exports fail quietly: wrong classifications, missing properties, geometry that looks fine until the coordinator opens it. I set up export rules, validate models against your requirements, run clash detection, and hand you a report that says exactly what to fix and why.

You get
  • Validated IFC and export templates
  • Clash report with a ranked fix list
  • Rules your team can rerun
A3

4D and 5D: schedule and cost in the model

A programme that lives in the model shows the site what happens next. A cost model that lives there shows the client what it costs. I link both to the elements, so when the design moves, the numbers move with it.

You get
  • 4D sequence and review video
  • Model-based quantity take-off
  • Cost-linked model and change log
A4

Dashboards with the model inside

Progress, quantities and open issues on one screen, with the 3D model right there to click on. Built in Power BI and fed from your data environment, so nobody has to export another spreadsheet on a Friday afternoon.

You get
  • Live dashboard with embedded viewer
  • Data pipeline from your CDE
  • Short handover training

AI & automation for construction

B · where the time goes back
B1

Document search that reads drawings

Thousands of PDFs, scans and drawings, and the answer you need is on one page of one of them. I build search that reads them, including OCR of scanned sheets, answers in plain language, and cites the page it found. Deployed on your infrastructure. Your data stays yours.

You get
  • Pilot on a real document set
  • Accuracy report you can trust
  • Deployment plan and cost estimate
B2

Quantity and drawing automation

Bills of quantities pulled from drawings. Properties written into thousands of elements at once. Models converted between formats without losing what they mean. Custom scripts around IFC and the software you already pay for.

You get
  • A working tool, not a demo
  • Source code and documentation
  • Someone on your side who can maintain it
B3

Talk to your BIM software

My research field: driving authoring tools with plain instructions through the Model Context Protocol. "Find every wall without a fire rating and tag it", and it happens. I build pilots that show what this does for your workflow, and, just as usefully, what it does not.

You get
  • Working prototype on your tool of choice
  • Live demo session for your team
  • An honest assessment, either way
B4

AI strategy and training for AEC firms

Two days to find out where AI pays for itself in your company, and where it is a distraction. I audit your workflows and your data, rank the opportunities by effort and return, and train your people on the ones worth doing.

You get
  • Audit report in plain language
  • Prioritised roadmap with costs
  • Hands-on workshop for your team

Structural engineering support

C · the day job before BIM
C1

Analysis, design support and peer review

Modelling and analysis in ETABS, SAP2000 and SAFE to Eurocodes, ACI and AASHTO. Second opinions on someone else's calculations. Rehabilitation concepts for bridges and structures that have been standing a while. I work as support to your licensed engineer of record, never in their place.

You get
  • Analysis models and calculation notes
  • Review memo with clear findings
  • Concept options with pros and cons
02 — Starting points

Three fixed-scope ways to begin.

Small enough to approve quickly, useful enough to matter. Each has a defined deliverable and a fixed price, quoted in writing before we start.

Package 01 · five working days

Model Health Check

Send me an IFC. You get a validation and clash report, a fix list ranked by what matters, and export settings that stop the same problems coming back next month.

Fixed price · quoted in writing

Package 02 · two weeks

Information Management Sprint

A working ISO 19650 setup for one project: plans, data environment, naming, checks, and your team trained to run it without me.

Fixed price · quoted in writing

Package 03 · three weeks

Document Search Pilot

Your documents, a search tool your team can actually use, and a clear yes or no on whether it is worth scaling across the company.

03 — How it works

No mystery, no meetings about meetings.

1

Tell me what you need

The form below takes about four minutes and asks the questions I would ask on a first call. Attach a link to files if you have them.

2

Written proposal in two working days

Scope, deliverables, timeline and price, in one document. If I am not the right person, I will say so and point you to someone who is.

3

Agree and start

Terms in writing, a shared channel, and checkpoints you can see. You always know where the work is.

4

Handover that lasts

Files, source code where relevant, and a short document so it keeps working after I leave. No dependency on me by design.

04 — Who you are hiring

An engineer who builds software, not the other way round.

I spent years designing structures and supervising bridge rehabilitation before moving into digital construction. That order matters: I build tools for the problems I have stood in front of, and I know which corners must never be cut.

  • MSc Structural Engineering and Erasmus Mundus Master in BIM (BIM A+), University of Minho and University of Ljubljana.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, Pakistan Engineering Council. For EU and US work I support your local engineer of record.
  • Daily practice in digital delivery on large infrastructure and building projects in Slovenia.
  • Published research on controlling BIM software with natural language via the Model Context Protocol.
  • Based in Ljubljana: full overlap with European working hours, mornings shared with the US East Coast.
  • Plain reporting. You get findings you can act on, not a slide deck to admire.
05 — Request a service

Tell me what you need.

Four short steps. I reply personally, within two working days, with a written proposal.
